More than reading glasses
Many people in their forties and beyond who are reluctant to switch to progressive lenses have taken the option of reading spectacles.
The reality is that most of these people at some stage will also need a mid-vision correction, now or in the coming years.
But unfortunately, near to mid-vision lenses are often overlooked in favour of limiting standard reading spectacles.
Yet many of our day-to-day activities are performed using our mid-vision. From the simplest of scenarios like holding a conversation, having dinner, doing housework, through to situations in the working environment; whether it's in the office, in a shop... just about anywhere you can think of.
When to use
- All patients requiring near correction.
- Ideal as second pair for close work.
- Current single vision wearers.
- Progressive lens wearers who would like a pair of spectacles dedicated for close work.
- Extended focus lenses are a versatile part of practice. You may prescribe them to presbyopes, computer users or vision therapy patients (children or adults).
Features and Benefits
0.80D power shift over 10mm
- Power variation of 0.80D between two stable power zones (maximum value that allows wearer to swap continually from close to intermediate vision without the need for re-adaptation).
Comfortable near and intermediate vision
- Near vision is located with 18?Ǭ? of downward gaze, the wearer's head tilt is 45?Ǭ?, the same as reading without spectacles.
- Wearer's posture and visual ergonomics have been taken into account so transfer from near to intermediate vision and back is more comfortable.
Soft design
- No detectable peripheral distortion (cylinder is always below 0.40D, the eye's threshold for noticing blur).
- Can easily be worn occasionally as no re-adaptation required.
